Pinnacle Heights Academy Initiates Read2Achieve

At PHA, we believe that if there is any activity that has the potential to unlock children's mastery of any subject, it is reading. We have therefore instituted the #Read2Achieve program to instill a strong reading culture among learners and staff alike.

The Program Structure

The #Read2Achieve initiative follows a carefully designed monthly cycle:

1

Book Assignment

Each learner is assigned an age-appropriate storybook at the beginning of the month after careful selection by our literacy specialists.

2

Guided Reading

Teachers supervise students during dedicated reading sessions, helping with comprehension and vocabulary development.

3

Book Review

Students produce creative reviews of their books through written reports, presentations, or artistic interpretations.

4

New Selection

After completing their review, students select a new book from our curated library for the next month's reading.

Measuring Success

Since its launch, #Read2Achieve has shown remarkable results:

  • 85% increase in library book circulation
  • 40% improvement in reading comprehension scores
  • 92% participation rate across all grade levels
  • Creation of student-run book clubs

"#Read2Achieve has transformed our school's reading culture. Students who previously struggled with reading are now eagerly awaiting their next book assignment."

Staff Participation

The program extends to all staff members, creating a school-wide reading community. Each month, teachers share what they're reading through:

  • Staff room "book talk" sessions
  • A displayed "What We're Reading" board
  • Monthly faculty book club discussions

Parental Involvement

We encourage parents to support #Read2Achieve by:

  • Creating reading spaces at home
  • Asking about their child's current book
  • Participating in family reading time
  • Attending our monthly reading showcases
  • Donating gently used books
  • Volunteering as reading mentors

Success Story

Form 2 student Kofi Mensah, who previously struggled with reading, has read 15 books this academic year through #Read2Achieve and now leads his class book club. "I used to hate reading," Kofi shares, "but now I can't wait to get my next book each month."
